United Nations Authorizes Payments for 1990 Kuwait Invasion

The United Nations Compensation Commission authorized a $1.06 billion payment to the Government of Kuwait last week, bringing the total amount to payments to nearly $48 billion.  This settlement is related to the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait in 1990. For the past twenty years, the UNCC has authorized payments to settle nearly three million claims from Kuwaiti citizens and businesses for personal injuries, property damage and lost profits.
