Ever since the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime
(UNODC) publically condemned the U.S. federal government’s acceptance of state
marijuana legalization, the international organization has
found support from some unusual allies. Many American conservative
organizations have voiced support and agreement for UNODC, adding potential
international treaty violations to their roster of arguments against marijuana
legalization. Among these similar-minded organizations is Western Journalism
Center, a conservative lobbying organization, which has criticized the manner
in which President Obama has “looked the other way when it comes to
enforcement” of marijuana laws.
