Call reported that C. Gregory Turner was convicted last Friday for his part
in the conspiracy to lobby President Obama to lift sanctions on Zimbabwe.
Turner was convicted of violating the International Emergency Economic Powers
Act due to his role in seeking to set up meetings between American and
Zimbabwean officials, including President Mugabe. The FBI found that two U.S.
congressmen, rumored to be Illinois Representatives Danny Davis and Bobby Rush,
had links to the scheme, including official letters written to President
Mugabe. Turner was the second person convicted for participating in the scheme;
Prince Asiel Ben Israel pled guilty to violating the Foreign Agents
Registration Act in August.
