Iraqi Human Rights Lawyer and Activist Executed by the ‘Islamic State’

Iraqi lawyer, Sameera Salih Ali al-Nuaimy, was targeted and killed by Islamic State fighters after she denounced their “barbaric” acts, reports The New York Times. More specifically, she criticized the fighters for bombing mosques and shrines in Mosul on her Facebook page. Islamic State fighters seized Ms. Nuaimy from her home, tortured her for days, and publicly executed her. Ms. Nuaimy will be remembered for her courage in promoting human rights.
