Iraqi lawyer, Sameera Salih Ali al-Nuaimy, was targeted and killed
by Islamic State fighters after she denounced their “barbaric” acts, reports The New
York Times. More specifically, she criticized the fighters for bombing
mosques and shrines in Mosul on her Facebook page. Islamic State fighters
seized Ms. Nuaimy from her home, tortured her for days, and publicly executed
her. Ms. Nuaimy will be remembered for her courage in promoting human rights.
